Rat Race

I'm having a hard time seeing the "western" in this clip. Anybody else? The actual clip for this scene bounces back and forth between a waltz and an opera.

After having listened to Jeff's take on the sketch for Ed's class, it occurred to me that a country approach might also be appropriate for the Rat Race cue (alongside waltz and opera).

By the way: did Thom say the tuba player is doubling with flute? In his earlier email he had said flute/clarinet/piccolo, but in class I think he said tuba/flute... What's the status of this session's doublings at the moment?

Also, another silly question: was it tuba in F?

The Tuba is another player and Thom said to write it at concert pitch with Bb about as low as you should go.

There are many tubas Renata, but you don't have to worry about that. You always write for them in concert pitch.

Guys, thanks for your help. This has been a tough cue for me with all the brass and the harp; my orchestration knowledge is negligible...

How is everyone else doing? Ready for the session tonight?
